ah yes. just like they did with the eMac back in the day. that was popular... you know, not having a product to ship for weeks.
Well, assuming they announced and shipped about the same time as the PC companies, there's really not that much to complain about. Don't forget, they did it with the MPB as well.
And if people are really unwilling to wait a couple weeks, nothing is stopping them from buying the yonah models.

As someone looking forward to buying my very first Mac desktop; I must say this is a pretty lame rumour. 'Sandy Bridge'? 'Thunderbolt'? Nothing surprising; everyone here was expecting these two items. I want more specific rumours!:p
The wait continues...:(
I hear the Magic Mouse it comes packaged with will have double the retinas as previous models.

I stopped at the Apple store this morning and tried out the 24 inch iMac and the Mac Pro. These are sweet machines. No did not buy anything.
The systems both had 1 gig on them and I compared them to a MacBook Pro. One weird thing.... the 24 incher had some stuttering on the iMoviedemo they all had. However the second time I tried it it was smoth as silk. I think it was not cached in memory and since the second time it was it ran smothly. I was also plesantly surpriced that the 24 incher screen was very readable at it highest setting even with my bad eyes. Nice screen realstate and resolution with nice easy to read fonts.
Im still waiting for Leopard to release these powerful anymals of their chains. By them the systems will be even better, maybe even incluse Santa Rosa.

I'm a Green Peace supporter, but with Bush in the Whitehouse, don't they have bigger fish to fry?
It took almost 20 posts before GWB was mentioned. It seems the attention span of some folks is actually getting longer.
Now back on point, please.
The only reason GP is targeting Apple is because they think they actually have a shot at getting them to do something, and once Apple moves in response to GP, then they have ammo to go after the others.
GP is a dead movement - we need a fair, equitable organization to take its place.

Why is U2 so big with iPods anyways? The only group to have their own iPod.
(I don't mean to be disrespectful to the U2 fanboys out there)
Could be because Bono bought Steve Jobs apartment in New York City from him.

Appleinsider reports (http://www.appleinsider.com/article.php?id=2016) that Apple is ready to introduce the iTunes Movie Store at the upcoming September 12th Media Event.
They expect that Jobs will announce that movies from at least one major studio will be available at $9.99/download with additional studies following. Appleinsider, however, also claims that Apple has been working on their next killer device. Instead of a video iPod device to drive movie sales, they believe a video streaming device is in the works:

Amen. the US dont use GSM, do they, it's CDMA, right?
Here (australia) we have both, kinda. All carriers run GSM, and while there is some locking of handsets (if you get a "free" phone on a contract) you can pay it out early, or move to a different carrier when the contract expires, or just buy your own phone.
I could NEVER imagine this whole "i want that phone by xyz carrier doesnt have it". Aren't you americans supposed to demand the best of everything!?
Dear God, please check your info before posting. We have many GSM carriers, and you can buy certain CDMA phones and use them on a different CDMA network. And you were talking about international roaming in other posts, well, we have that, here. Even CDMA that you bash so much has roaming options. My brother is using a dual CDMA/GSM phone on Sprint right now in London. And the international roaming rates are cheaper with US carriers compared to Vodafone Australia, depending on countries. We also have 3G CDMA and GSM based Cingular uses W-CDMA, so you're not the only ones there, either.

The Apple laptops are a staple machine for Mac using pro photographers so this would be a perfect event to announce an upgrade along with a new version of Aperture. It would look rather odd to have new C2D iMacs and MacPros without an upgraded MBP.

by the invitation I would predict (or maybe wishful thinking) :D :
Itunes Movie Store
New Airport xpress with video capabilities.
new Front Row with DVR capability (that would be really nice)
device to connect cable TV to the Mac (ala Elgato)
Maybe new IPOD video widescreen.

Wouldn't a more relevant comparison be Apple and HP since they are both hardware companies and MS really isn't in the same category hardware wise?

They could call it iMovie... wait that won't work.
iFlix (too netflix-ee)? iPix(too pixarish)? iMedia (too micro$oftish)? nah.. just stick with iTunes... everybody knows how to use it, but fix the video playback.
How about iWillBuyWhateverCoolAppleGadgetComesOutOnThe12th ??

Sorry to crash the party, but it would seem a little strange for Apple to upgrade the MacBook and/or MB Pro's until sometime after the 16th when their current college promotion ends. Promotion = clearing out old stock (of notebooks & iPods).
Keep your mom's credit card in her purse for a few more weeks.
Hello Mr. Condescending, and glad you could join us.
There are arguments agreeing with you and those that disagree with you for equally good reasons. It's been all over these boards for the last several weeks, so you're not telling anyone anything they haven't thought, said, heard, or argued for or against. While I can definitely see both sides to this worn debate, in all honestly, I have no idea when Apple will release the C2D systems. And neither do you (or do you? :o )
But hey! That's why were here. To speculate, argue, and spread wild rumors based on tiny grains of truth.

What I find most interesting is that fact the Creative is joining the Made for iPod program and will be producing its own iPod accessories.
Definitely interesting......now I'll just have to remember to never buy Creative products :) I like Apple not Creative........so why support a company I do not like that sued a company I do like and got $100 million in a lawsuit over a BS patent.

she had to veer off of the road to avoid hitting me.
What if she had decided to not swerve off the road and instead run into the back of your car. When the insurance companies and police look at it, she'd be in the right (and be covered) and you'd be in the wrong with a screwed over car.

Technically I was only 20 over the limit (I'm in Michigan). Also, radar detectors are a great thing:)
EDIT: @mrsir2009 - no that lady was doing 5mph under the speed limit in the passing lane, while not even passing. Traffic in the right side lane was passing her. She then proceeded to brake check me and travel under 55mph (the posted minimum in Michigan). More like wtf is wrong with her.
-Don
Yeah she's so bad for driving 8kmh under the speed limit. Everyone should be driving 140kmh like you
Why were you in such a hurry anyway? Was McDonalds about to stop serving the breakfast menu?

GPS, whay arent you accurate? Oh right, security issues....
This is off topic, and maybe I'm misunderstanding to boot... Are you saying GPS isn't accurate? It's been running at full accuracy for years now-- you can get to a couple feet with WAAS, better than a centimeter using differential techniques. The principle limitation on accuracy is atmospheric effects, not security concerns.
