Former sudster hunk Rick Springfield, best remembered for his 1981 hit ?Jessie?s Girl? and starring role on ABC?s General Hospital, was arrested in Los Angeles over the weekend on suspicion of drunk driving. Law enforcement sources tell TMZ.com that Springfield, 61, was pulled over by two Los Angeles County Sheriff?s Department (LASD) officers for a traffic violation when they smelled alcohol on the singer-actor?s breath. According to information from the LASD?s Office, he was pulled over after he ?accelerated rapidly? in his 1963 Corvette while driving on Pacific Coast Highway. The officers then administered field sobriety tests, which Rick failed miserably. Springfield?s blood alcohol level showed results of .10 and .08. The legal limit in California is .08.
He was promptly booked into jail and later released on $5,000 bail. The collar could be a crushing blow for the ?80s star?s return to the Hollywood scene. Incidentally, Rick will make a guest appearance as a ?womanizing photographer? on tonight?s edition of CBS? Hawaii Five-O.
Springfield chronicled his lifelong fight with depression in the 2010 memoir Late, Late at Night, released last October.
Rick?s due back in court on the DUI charge in July.
