I hope all these internal specifications being updated in the MacBook Pro and now MacBook Air carry over to the iMac refresh so it is all across the Mac line

That's why I've kept my late '08 MBP for as long as I have. I want a MAJOR step forward the next time I invest $2000+ on a primary machine. :)
In the meantime, I'll be just fine with what I have! ;)

Don't get me wrong, I would welcome a new enclosure but I think that allowing the prospect of one to be the determining factor in the purchase of a machine is ridiculous. As much as I would LOVE to have a gunmetal colored mbp, if it came out tomorrow I wouldn't be upset that I have a silver one because I truly do love my machine. Apple will always continue to innovate and release new products, and IMO now that they're using intel chips the rate of obsolescence will increase (in terms of harware and performance more than appearance).
More than likely a new case would mean a snazzy magnetic latch, a user replaceable HDD, and possibly an end to the MBP heat issue. When a 120 gb ipod comes out, is that the HDD you want in your computer? Besides, this is Apple we're talking about--do you really think any design change is going to be a demotion? Has any Apple redesign sucked? Ever?

It isn't VISTA. I plan on installing on my 2 yr old PB as soon as it is released.
And thank God that it isn't. It would be July of 2007 before it came out if Leopard was Vista.

Ok, my prediction:
New nano will have to have a new name, or more than 4gb in the low end, otherwise it will be available as part of the get a free ipod campaign... i don't think apple will do that. Reminds me of a certain SNL skit.
or... mb and mbp will be upgraded to C2D... the rebate clearly lists only core duo systems as eligible. then you won't be able to get any free ipods except with a mac pro
there you have it
You're correct. As soon as the new iMacs were released, they were immediately excluded from the free iPod offer. If anyone is hoping that MBP's or MB's are updated to C2D before the 16th so they can get the free iPod from that promotion, it won't happen. If you want the free iPod, you'd better order a MB or MBP before/if they update those systems to C2D. It sucks because I was hoping to take advantage of that promotion when/if the updates happened before the 16th.

Sheesh, Apple couldn't even spring for one of those audio splitters so they could each connect a pair of headphones instead of having to share?!?
:)
It's nice that Apple is giving 5% to charity. Hopefully this is the start of a trend with Apple.

i thought this from my first post, but his join date is 08, and he's a regular. that is what has me thinking that what he is saying is really how he thinks/acts.
I don't doubt that he goes around cutting people off at dangerous speeds. That screams of trying to make himself feel like less of a loser.
It's all the other crap that I think is BS...the money, connected family members, SAT score, all of the volunteering, Harvard. Complete lies. The kid is sitting in his basement listening to death metal (no offense to those who like that kind of music) as we speak and cursing all of the girls in his class because nobody would be caught dead at Prom with him.

I'd gladly wait overnight for a solid 1080p movie that played in quicktime. Don't need the DVD features (or frickin' ads). Just give me the movie.
I would be exstatic to get a 720p movie, and like you, I would certainly have no problem waiting the time it would take to download it. I just want HD downloadable content from iTMS, which is why the iTV has me so excited. I may hold off on getting that HD-DVD player until I learn more about it.

O2 has nothing to do with Orange. They're completely seperate companies with different parent companies. I believe Orange are owned by France telecom, where as O2 are owned by Telefonica.

Good to see the Magic Track Pad only option - I Loved my Magic Mouse a lot ... but I love my Magic Track Pad even more, it gives me all the same gestures that I'm used to from the MacBook - I am done with mice and will always go with the TrackPad option. For those that never used one: It does not compare the the good old windows TrackPads, it adds so much more usability since it is a true multitouch device.

Miles you make a great point... You also confirm that Apple better pull them, its a pointless app because if your so drunk then you can't operate a phone let alone an app.
I beg to differ. I can operate my phone quite well and not even remember doing it lol. Although, you just shouldn't be driving drunk so that you have to avoid the checkpoints.

I've been waiting to buy my first Mac desktop for some time now... and an i7 SB iMac should last me through college :D
desktop is good for power, it will lose its resale value. if you are not moving around much or no plan upgrading for 3 years then it is good
otherwise MacBook/Pro + Monitor is win!

Sadly,
Wal-Mart is God in the retail sector. They have far more power over the success of CDs and DVDs than Apple could dream of. I doubt that is going to change anytime soon, especially not as a result of Apple movie sales.
I think the basic three limiting factors for that are the following:
- no device to connect to the TV to easily reproduce those movies
- not enough standard storage space for HD resolution
- not high enough standard bandwidth for HD resolution
Well at least the first Apple has in it's own hands in January. The other two will take at least 2-3 years more at which time Apple will have missed the head start over physical HD mediums.

55 miles to the gallon isn't even abnormal, a lot of standard hatchbacks/small family cars do that and more.
55 miles per US gallon ;). Thats 70 miles per imperial gallon as US gallons are smaller.

i dont know if anyone has said this yet, but why dont they just turn a ipod into a phone instead of turning a phone into an ipod... seriously, an 80gig ipod w/ the ability to call and text people and etc. alhtough, i suppose the tech isnt there to make it small enough for the average consumer to enjoy

And popping a headshot on a guy in a moving car trying to run you over isn't luck... something tells me this "mall cop" hasn't always been a mall cop.
