Van Gough, Mozart, Diesel

On Tuesday, Diesel posted a message on his wall telling fans [director David] Twohy had good news — they could start filming this summer — but there was a catch. “[I]n order for us to make a true R rated film, I must work for scale upfront. Not unlike the Find me Guilty experience (which I wouldn’t have changed for the world)… Money is always second to art, integrity and spirit… but the real issue is deeper. Can I suspend my life, to momentarily venture to that dark place… called Riddick. Now, I need to hear from Our collective… you. Wisdom and clarity appreciated,” he wrote

I know actors think they are artists and technically acting falls under the arts.  But mainstream movies are art the way rap songs are poetry.  They are all creative but all the production and the smoke and mirrors in movies and pop music makes it seem different some how.  That and I like pop music and movies and could give a shit about "real" art.

Regardless Vin's quote citing art, integrity, and spirit in reference to the 3rd installment of the Chronicle's of Riddick (and outer space/alien movie where he plays a mercenary that can see in the dark) is like saying what you love about Lindsay Lohan is the demure way she handles herself with such class and grace.

Also the Diesel is looking for some oscar buzz for Fast 5.  I hope he is holding his breath.
