LONDON -- Romania's annual international Transilvania film festival announced its competish line up Thursday (May 5), a month ahead of the opening of its 10th edition in Cluj.An increasingly popular event on the fest circuit, the event showcases the work of debut and sophomore feature directors, including those already seen at Cannes, Locarno, San Sebastian and Berlin.Mihai Chirilov, the fest's artistic director, aspires to ''a balanced and eclectic selection'' that this year includes genre movies , Iceland comedy ''King's Road,'' by Valdis Oskarsdottir, and two thrillers, ''No Return'' (Miguel Cohan, Argentina) and ''The Silence'' (Baran Bo Odar,Germany) .There are also ''films that defy genuine cinematographic UFO's'' , ''A Useful Life'' (Federico Veiroj, Uruguay/Spain) and ''The Untitled Kartik Krishan'' (Srinivas Sunderrajan, India), and ''guerrilla productions made on a micro-budget: ''The Imperialists are Still Alive!'' (Zeina Durra, U.S.), which played last year at Sundance.Other films in the competish dozen are: ''She Monkeys'' (Lisa Aschan, Sweden); Berlin competish title ''Innocent Saturday'' (Alexander Mindadze, Russia/Germany / Ukraine); ''The Flood'' (Guy Nattiv, Israel); ''Oxygen'' (Hans Van Nuffel, Belgium), Cannes director's fortnight- selected ''Volcano'' (Runar Runarsson, Denmark) and Romanian director Constantin Popescu's second feature ''Principles of Life,'' which features Vlad Ivanov (''4 Months, 3 Weeks and 2 Days'') as a man who seems to have everything in life until a crisis puts his entire existence in question.Fest also has a line up of 12 shorts that includes horror movies, cartoons and experimental projects.Fest runs June 3-12 in Club Napoca followed by June 15-19 in UNESCO world heritage city Sibiu.
