it has a trademark. also see my previous post, and the linked tweet - apple frequently rejects apps for containing representations of iPhones (including hand drawn images that are not copyright by Apple). That's the point.
Ah, sorry. I misunderstood.
You do have to realize though, they can't haul you over to court for drawing an iPhone. All they can do is not allow your application in the App Store.
Which is a bummer, of course. Hopefully, with enough developers quitting because of the unfair limitations, Apple will realize something, and will bring light to the issue.

where did the student pricing go? i guess there was an overall drop, but I was hoping to use my discount one more time before graduating
The new 'pod pricing seems to be at the old Education Store levels anyway. So basically they got rid of it for students and gave it to everyone.

Remember, having the largest market share != the best experience.
Good for MSFT if they can get back in the game. If anything I look forward to Google and MSFT battling it out. Apple needs these two to help drive their own innovation forward.

Oh well, there goes all my enthusiasm... Thunderbolt is dead.
USB 3 is slower, uglier, more gummed up with kruft but the masses are comfortable with it so everything will use it. Thunderbolt will go the way of FireWire.
Ugh.

and btw, google stores location data allll the time.
Every single search is localized in some sense. Google is keeping track of where you are based off GPS or IP address. This is why I don't have an issue with this; I'd rather have the file on my computer than with a company that we aren't sure is going to be on the good side for long.

Any one know when the 45nm architecture processors are going to appear?
I'm gonna wait for those, for OS X 10.5 and iLife 07 to invest in a Mac
In about a years time, maybe slighly more...

I bet ballmers goal is $5.99 billion profit next quarter.
Now, that's really, really funny.
Thanks.

In the quarter where Apple will still be selling alot of iPads? And release a new iMac? I highly doubt that would be enough. Let's not forget about Back to School either.
Also, does anyone think Apple will soon be forced to bail Microsoft out? ;)

Uh no I didn't. I just interpreted the law. As someone implied earlier, this could all be a ruse. I might not have done anything I said in this thread. No one here can know 100% for sure, because you did not witness the event I claim occurred. That simple fact, in addition to any record searching anyone did without a warrant (which would be an invasion of privacy) would get anything I say in this thread thrown out of court faster than you could blink.

fair enough, let me reword that: you just admitted that the person going 90mph, intentionally cuts off the other, and slams breaks in this hypothetical scenario is the one thats doing the wrong. give me a break.
EDIT: I'm not saying any of this is usable in court (even though i would), Im just saying that throughout this entire thread, your telling everyone how right you are, yet in the post i quoted, you admitted that your actions are wrong.

LA Times (http://www.latimes.com/business/la-fi-ikea-union-20110410,0,4172495,full.story)
Laborers in Swedwood plants in Sweden produce bookcases and tables similar to those manufactured in Danville. The big difference is that the Europeans enjoy a minimum wage of about $19 an hour and a government-mandated five weeks of paid vacation. Full-time employees in Danville start at $8 an hour with 12 vacation days eight of them on dates determined by the company.
"It's ironic that Ikea looks on the U.S. and Danville the way that most people in the U.S. look at Mexico," Street said.
Well, the right has gotten what it wants. Low wages, no benefits, non-union jobs.
What next? Reintroduction of slavery?

The MacBook Pro design hasn't changed since 2008. I'd bet money that the next time they do a redesign an optical drive won't be present.
If you make the MBP thinner, it will just be a big MBA.
The right way is to make bigger MBAs, not to make thinner MBPs.
A more powerful competitor to 15" Zacate netbooks.

Yeah, this is pretty exciting news. I had already planned to call Verizon this morning to see when my contract is up.
EDIT: $175 termination fee per phone and a good while to go on the contract. Yeouch! I may just have to keep my fingers crossed that Verizon Wireless gets the iPhone late next year.
Yeah, the termination fee is harsh, but I'm honestly not sure I could last another year and a half without throwing my Razr into a trash compactor. I like the phone, but the god-awful interface that Verizon loads onto it is another story.
A cell phone should NOT require hard reboots.

It makes me grin a little when I see posts like in this thread posted by people who obviously have no shortage of money (with their multiple mac systems) and yet dont want to hand over a little money for something thats been out for 5 years and makes the audio elements of airplay completely redundant.
Sonos. Easier, way better quality, more options, fully upgradeable, completely unrestrictive. And it just works.
For videophiles get a popcorn hour, 1080p streaming goodness which plays formats Apple TV can only dream of.
To host the content (if you dont want to buy an internal hard drive for Popcorn Hour) a simple NAS.
No computers involved, music playing in multiple rooms (same music or different tunes) sourced from iTunes, CD rips or Napster / Pandora / Spotify or internet radio all at the same time (if you so wish) and rips in beautiful uncompressed cd quality FLAC all synced (if you want to link rooms) at exactly the same time. Movies playing in any format you want, at any resolution you want wherever you want to stick the PH.
Airplay is so antiquated, limited in function, and completely way below whats been out for years in terms of quality, im amazed anyone even reads Airplay threads, let alone puts any money towards the system.
A NAS, Sonos and Popcorn Hour is all you need for your cd less, dvd less, blu ray less entertainment systems. But anyway, carry on bashing your heads against the Apple system.

Only thing is one still has to connect some kind of A/V cables to the TV..
Think about that concept.
I'll think about it. I think it's covered by "video to tv via dvi>hdmi cable for hdtv or analogue connection for sdtv". Which you obviously missed?
Try looking at the pic again. And read the stuff. All of it.

The author wrote this was a hold-up, but he did not mention "Who" was held up. All he said was a security guard caught the suspects smashing the windows of the store. This is not a hold-up, it's a burglary. No store employee was involved. Also the author did not say say the suspect/s fired at the security guard. If they did, then the security had the right to defend himself, if it was just a burglary and the suspect/s did not fire on the guard, then he had no right to use deadly force. The author also stated it was a "Head-Shot", apparently the author has never had a gun pointed at him, nor been in a fire fight. The fact that the suspect was shot in the head is a tough shot to make at a moving target. The author just wrote it that way to attract attention to his story. He should find out the facts and use the proper terms and don't elaborate. If the guard was a retired or off duty police office, he would have aimed for the X-10 ring...not the head.

NEW MACBOOK PROS!
NEW MACBOOKS!
NEW UNDERWEAR!
NEW IPOD NANOS!
NEW IPODS!
NEW IMACS!
NEW ITUNES VIDEO STORE! (ITMS. iTunes Media Store?)
NEW DISPLAYS!
NEW ISIGHTS!
NEW IPOD SOCKS!
NEW IPHONE!
Have we learned nothing? Apple never lets everything out of the bag.
w00t! Love it anyway. :D
While I would normally agree, look at the MBP, iMac, Mac Mini, iPod 5G, iPod Nano, iPod Shuffle and iSight. These products have not been updated for a while and the product line is starting to get stale.

- Windows Mobile was among the first platforms for smartphones and failed miserably.
- Global personal computer sales are slumping (-3% in Q1 2011) while Macs achieve a growth of 26%. There's clearly a loss of traction for Windows going on, despite all the praises for Windows 7.
Is the global sales growth drop due to Windows? How many percent gain of the overall OS market has Apple gained with the 26% increase in Mac sales?

So, are we supposed to be proud about this? And if so, why has the same 'accomplishment' earned Microsoft the 'M$' reputation? Double morals?

Maybe not, but why do I think Apple could have bought the entire company for that kind of dough?
Assuming the feds would sign off, do you know how quickly everyone else would file an anti-trust suit if that happened?
Well if they were already make some accessories for the ipod they might actually be tempted to make one or two products sound cards for apple. What I would love to see is Creative licensing their X-FI audo tech to apple to put in the ipod. I have been hearing nothing but good things about X-Fi.
I'd kill for X-Fi technology on a Mac.

Does anyone think we should be hitting 4ghz about now?
I mean weve been stuck on 2.x for ages. Whats the deal? A 4ghz quad would be frickin awesome.
They have given up on speed and are focussing on multiple processors instead. You will see speed increases but not as often. In the next few years you might see dozens of processors all with Quad or Octo cores instead of just dual core today. IMHO, I prefer additional processors over sheer GHZ anyday. Your 4ghz wish isn't going to mean anything against a Kenstfield in 2007. However, a Quad 4ghz would be sweet... but damn hot.
